It seems like all they do is just swim around, and they don?t bond to their owners.
Well, they are peaceful. There is so much to learn about them. It?s like an underwater world.
What?s the point of having a dog, cat, hamster, rabbit, gecko, frog, etc?
To each their own. Personally I like creating something that is unique and representative of my personality, while providing a good home for my fish.
When you set up an aquarium you have so many choices of how to set up the tank, that you can really make it your own.
My oldest fish are almost 15 years old and they do actually recognize me, and eat out of my hand.
It?s almost like having a friend that you can?t talk to, but they know you and understand you perfectly. You can give them stuff to play in and they?ll attempt tricks to thank you. If you walk into the room before they?ve been fed, they?ll dart around to get your attention and beg. If I put my camera up to the glass for a photo, they all school together in front of the lens for a group shot. You can pet them and comfort them if they get sick, and they?ll give a full-hearted flip or blow some cute little bubbles. They?re beautiful and graceful for the ones that like beauty, quick and swift for the speedsters, and just plain weird for the oddballs of the world. If you ask me, they?re perfect.
Fish when kept properly are amazing pets.Yes, they can bond with their owners. They can even be trained to do tricks.
They also helps us understand the world around us.An advanced aquarium keeper is part biologist, part chemist, part environmental scientist, part gardener/botanist, and part plumber!
The betta are likely boring from being improperly housed. They are cold, sad and miserable in small containers or bowls, and are often "boring" fish when so mistreated. When kept properly they are active, curious, silly and personable.
I don?t see them as "pets" in the traditional sense. I don?t expect them to bond with me or sit and cuddle with me to watch the telly! (Although I have heard of a 2.5ft long Mbu Pufferfish that liked to watch telly?)
An avid fishkeeper usually keeps them for the fasincation aspect. Watching them interact with one another, enjoying learning how to master to maintain the environment they live in. I?m personally fascinated by the thousands of species out there and how they?ve all adapted to different environments. I get a buzz of excitement when I go to an aquatics store and see a species I haven?t seen before.
A dash of OCD and persistance helps when being a fishkeeper ? they are definitely not for the impatient!
I think fish are beautiful. They are very graceful and pretty in the water. And yes, they do bond to their owners. They love to come up to me and beg for food when I?m around the tank and they each have there own personalities.
Next time do a little research on something you aren?t familiar with instead of implying things.
to me at first getting my first fish was just to have some responsibility but then after all that months went by and i fell in love with the hobby what fish have done to me changed my life and my future drastically i learned so mutch knowledge by studying fish and plants and etc, i know so mutch about fishes that im getting a job offer at petsmart and im only 16 and i know more than they do about fishes and they think that i might even own petsmart someday, plus it gave me an end to what im gonna do to my future, ive decided to me a marine biologist, those are just my personal reasons on whats the point of having fish, and there relaxing, im on the wrestling team in my school so i come home busted up and sore and its realy relaxing to just stare, i hope you will change your mind about fishes and see the give them a chance theres more to the hobby than just bunch
of fishes in a tank of water
You a mean *** owner and they hate you.
Fish usually bond to the owner, and come to the front of the tank to beg for food.
They play on their exercise equipment in the tank.
They fight with each other, and talk to each other.

Watch these videos, if you can repeat your question, I?ll come back with more.
My discus, oscars, angelfish, german blue rams, bettas, goldfish and dragon goby often dance around in their tanks and ponds when I pass by. I have a couple plecos and synodontis catfish that enjoy having their backs rubbed down every once an a while. My jaguar cichlids and rainbow wolf fish jump out of the tanks when fed. The mating dances of oscars andcertain tetras are a sight to see. Watching as a hundred or so tiny discus fry cling to their parent?s backs, feebly feeding off of the parent?s slime coat is just mesmerizing as they switch back and forth between parents.
Watching your fish survive is one thing, but watching them THRIVE is a whole other matter. Many fish can learn to recognize their keepers, most of my fish never react when someone else enters the room. When I enter the room they dart to the fronts of their tanks.
EDIT
It?s likely that your bettas were not cared for properly. To be active and healthy, bettas must be kept in at least 5 gallons with a heater and a filter. In a bowl or "betta bowl", they sit listlessly at the bottom and slowly deteriorate. In a good tank with the necessities, they will live 7 ? 10+ years and be very active.
A poor keeper makes for ugly, dull and dying fish, no companionship can be found in a poorly cared for fish.
They?re fun to watch. I love having a tank in my room. This might sound boring to some, but I love to just lay on my bed and watch them swimming around. It?s relaxing.
It?s a hobby that not everyone can get into. You don?t care for keeping fish? That?s great. But I?m sure you have hobbies that I don?t see the point of doing.
It?s fascinating, watching a creature grow and learn and change.I like my tanks as natural as possible.Learning how to keep the water safe, feed them the right foods, filtration methods, it?s all fascinating.
Some people like learning, others don?t. Eh?
What?s the point of being a troll?
It seems like all they do is just ask stupid questions and mope around like they don?t have a life and they don?t bond to their owners, just piss ?em off.
Its aquariums like this that are one of the reasons:
