Over the past few years, interest in health and fitness has skyrocketed in the United States.? As a result, so has staying fit while traveling. Hotels have remodeled or added gyms and some now even offer group classes like yoga. As for me, I like to visit a local fitness studio when I travel. Not only do I get to meet the locals and learn a little bit about the community, but I find they are much more fun to workout with than alone in a lonely hotel gym!
If you are visiting Kissimmee, you are not going to find a better studio than Lotus. Conveniently located a short drive from the main attractions, Lotus offers a wide range of group classes that include: yoga, meditation, zumba, salsa, hip hop, Pilates, belly dancing, ?and more! The instructors are all incredibly motivational and well trained for their specific classes. My favorite aspect of this fitness studio though is the members. There are people of all ages, shapes and sizes. All members have a mutual respect for one another and encourage one another. When I go to gyms, I typically feel like I am in competition with everyone else in the room and constantly comparing myself. Lotus offers an entirely different experience though, one that is of ?we are all in it together.? Forget doing your hair and makeup, no one cares if you come in your pajamas or designer workout clothes, just come and have fun getting in shape. It is an awesome feeling!
With Lotus being relatively new to the area, the studio is immaculate. It is decorated in such a fashion to inspire peace and privacy for those taking classes. The pole room is completely secluded and has low lighting to reduce any self consciousness one may feel, and the main room has privacy curtains so that members are not advertised to the outside world, like in most gyms with their fish tank windows.
I know what you are thinking to?pole dancing = dirty dancing. I thought the same thing. In an effort to try things before I judged them, I decided to take a class. Although there is some confidence you definitely need for this, there is way more muscle, strength and stamina needed. I have yet to find a more challenging full-body workout. These classes are a different option to have fun and stay in shape and I actually came out with a lot of respect for those who can successfully do it. As for me, I will stick to zumba and yoga because I can actually finish the class!
After you are done working out, or if you want to just clear your mind, swing by one of the group meditation or mindfulness classes, described by Lotus as guided meditation with beautiful music, incense and love. Stay in shape while on vacation and clear your mind, does it get much better than that? It does! Whereas other gyms require membership fees to take classes, Lotus starts at $10 per class with your first class being half priced! Namaste!
