A party ends after a massive brawl on Friday at Mary Baldwin College.
Everyone is safe now, but tonight the case is under investigation.
Quintez Kelly is a student at Mary Baldwin College.
She likes studying but also going to parties on campus.
"It's always fun," Kelly said.
On Friday night, her fun was cut short.
"Everybody was mad because everyone was ready to party. It was like 1:10 and the party doesn't end until 2 o'clock."
The Staunton Police Department was helping campus security to supervise the party on Friday.
Staunton Police Department Public Information Officer Lisa Klein one fight led to around 75 people fighting.
"It's very unusual this level. Of course there's always little disturbances when you have large groups of people. But this kind of disturbance is very extreme," Klein said.
This disturbance moved to the parking lot...Where Klein said people heard gun shots.
She also said a police officer was punched in the face.
About five police departments in the area also helped them.
"We work there all the time and we haven't had something like this before," Klein said.
Kelly said she's not surprised this happened at a college but that it happened at Mary Baldwin College.
"This is the first time in three years, since I've been here that something like this happened. It was just a little shocking," Kelly said.
Public relations Vice President Crista Cabe said after the dance, security checked all dorms.
The priority was to assuring that our students were safe and taking all the measures we needed to to ask them to shelter in place until the Staunton police department gave us the all clear," Cabe said.
Kelly said she's thankful campus officials also contacted them letting them know what happened.
"All of the sudden we got an email saying that there were shots heard around campus," Kelly said.
Mary Baldwin College and Staunton Police are working to see how they can prevent cases like this.
This case is under investigation.
