HONOLULU, HAWAII ? Communications Pacific (CommPac) has hired national award-winning newspaper columnist, author and screenwriter Charles Memminger as a senior writer. He will work on a variety of projects and accounts, using his unique background as a long-time Hawaii resident familiar with the Islands? lifestyle, culture and business community.

Memminger has written for the Honolulu Star-Bulletin, Honolulu Advertiser, Honolulu Magazine, Hana Hou and Hawaii Reporter. His work has also appeared nationally in Newsweek and Better Homes & Gardens, among other places, and has also been distributed by the New York Times News Service. He has won a number of Hawaii journalism awards, and the National Society of Newspaper Columnists twice named him the top humor columnist for U.S. newspapers under 100,000 circulation. In 2010 he took third place nationally in humor for newspapers over 100,000 circulation.
Memminger was a staff writer on the final season of the TV show ?Baywatch Hawaii,? after becoming the only Hawaii writer to win the Maui Writer?s Conference international screenwriting competition. He has had two books of humor essays and columns published in Hawaii; St. Martin?s Press will publish his novel ?Kahala Road,? a ?light tropical thriller,? in 2013, with a sequel to follow.
Memminger has also served as a public relations consultant to the Corrections Corporation of America. He has appeared on Hawaii TV and radio and, earlier, he worked as a reporter for newspapers in West Virginia and Guam (Pacific Daily News).? He is a graduate of Aiea High School and Oregon State University.
